Bike Share HOPs into the Village

Have you spotted the snazzy blue and green bikes in front of Village Hall? You’ve likely seen them around Rochester, as well. HOPR launched its bike and scooter share in the City of Rochester in June, and has been rolling them out in the RTS mobility zones in the surrounding areas this summer.

Village Hall is the first location in the Village and Town, and additional locations will be coming soon (most likely next spring, because the bike and scooters will be stored in the winter).

What do you need to do to ride a HOPR bike or scooter? (Note: scooters are only in the City of Rochester)

Start by downloading the free app at gohopr/rochester.

Then follow these 3 easy steps!

The bikes are super easy to ride. They are heavy, stable and comfortable. They have a big cushy seat, high handlebars, lights, a basket and a rack. These are made for cruising about town, not for doing a road race. If you’ve hopped (see what I did there?) on bikes in other community bike shares, you know the deal. If you haven’t, the learning curve isn’t steep. These are made to be easy to ride for everyone.

Once you have downloaded the app and signed in, the map will show you nearby stations and available bikes and scooters. If you are standing in front of the bike or scooter you’d like to rent, click the light blue “unlock” button on the screen and you will be prompted to scan the QR code for the bike or scooter.

It’s $1 to unlock and 15 cents per minute for a bike.

We are so happy to have bike share here in the Village! We look forward to seeing more stations and bikes out there next year.

Happy riding, people!
