Safety Tips for Biking & Walking

Biking Safety Tips:

  • Always wear a bike helmet
  • BE SEEN!  Wear bright-colored clothes or wear reflective gear
  • Before riding check your bike for safety (air in tires, brakes, mechanics, etc.)
  • Watch out for cars and trucks at every driveway and intersection on your ride to school. Look for drivers in parked cars. They may be getting ready to move.
  • Be predictable – ride in a straight line, not in and out of cars
  • Keep both hands on the handlebars
  • Stop before crossing the street, entering a road or turning
  • Obey traffic signs, signals, and any crossing guards
